Description
The Charlie Norwod VA Medical Center located in Augusta, GA is searching for a BE/BC Family Medicine trained or Internal Medicine trained Hospitalist to join their dynamic healthcare team.

Work Schedule: Various Tours (typically 7 days on and 7 days off, 6 (12 hour shifts) and 1 (8 hour shift) shift will require overnight rotations.

Location of position: Specialty Care

Works closely with specialists and primary care physicians to ensure that inpatients receive continuous high quality care

Provide inpatient medicine consultations to other services, including but not limited to, Mental Health and Surgery

Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews

Communicates with incoming and off going Hospitalists to ensure continuity of care

Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and huddles

Respond to code blue & Rapid Response Team calls throughout the facility while on duty, and is a lead disaster team coordinator for triage during disaster or mass casualty situations

Board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine preferred

Salary Range: Up to $240,000 per year

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

a. Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.)

b. Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure. (4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required

c. Licensure and Registration: (1) Physicians (Except Residents). Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.
