Description
The WJB Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia, SC is seeking a full-time physician for our Emergency Department. In addition to the excellent benefits of federal government employment, we offer flexible work schedules of 40 hours per week, or 80 hours per two-week pay period.

Physicians perform clinical duties in the 10 bed ED which operates 24/7 for the 17,500 patients seen annually. There is an associated urgent care staffed by one (1) physician and three (3) Nurse Practitioners that sees approximately 13,500 additional patients.

The physician must maintain proficiency in critical care skills, including central line placement and intubations. Most cases are medical and very little trauma.

Current ACLS is required. Preferred Experience: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine or Internal Medicine/Family Medicine with Emergency Room experience.

Salary Range: Up to $240,000 per year

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are authorized for this position. The Department of Veterans Affairs offers Permanent Change of Station (PCS) relocation services. Permanent Change of Station is the relocation of a household due to government convenience in connection with a transfer between duty stations or facilities. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery.

Proficient in spoken and written English.

Citizenship. Citizen of the United States.

Licensure and Registration. Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.

The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Approved schools are:

Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
