Description
Starting in April, our facility in western NH is in need of NP coverage. This is an integrated role of the nurse providing direct care and support to patients for emergency, observation and inpatient care services. The nurse practitioner utilizes the scientific process and national standards of care as a framework for managing patient care. Responsible for assuming clinical leadership, administrative support and the coordination of patient care services in the absence of Administration and Department Directors.

Average census is 12 patients per day of acute and skilled patients. This is a Critical Access Hospital… the NP will not be responsible for rounding on patients unless one of the patients has an issue or new problem. The NP will be acting in a supervisor role so they will be consulting, monitoring and assisting staff. The number of admits tends to be about 2 per night, but some nights there are no admissions, and occasionally they have experienced up to 5. Will be responsible for putting in IVs and/or lines. Will be running the codes on the inpatient side, but there is an ED doctor in house 24/7. This position is not open to Physician Assistants.

The group generally works every other weekend which is Saturday and Sunday night. The NP will work several nights during the week. Schedule will be 4 nights 1 week, and 3 nights the following week. This position was in a pilot phase, and now the facility is working towards implementation. The facility is able to offer temp privileges to begin with and then can move toward active staff. Support staff includes RNs and LNAs.

A collaborating physician or his/her designee will be available for consult either on site or by electronic means such as email or phone. Must have experience with: working at night without immediate supervision required, dynamic and strong individual who can balance both House Supervisor role as well as support the Hospitalist program.

Skills
Requirements: BLS/CPR, ACLS, ANRP

Notes
NP will be needed every other weekend. Shifts are 7:00 pm - 7:00 am.
