Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner-Psychiatry provides patient care services by assessing and treating mental illnesses through a combination of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and medication. Independently participate in the delivery of direct client care within the scope of authority granted by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and following our protocols and standards.

Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions.

High level of ethics in maintaining client confidentiality.

Excellent analytical skills to assess and evaluate client needs and develop and implement a care plan.

Handles a multitude of tasks simultaneously.

Deals with and/or solves stressful situations.

Communicates with clients, physicians, and other staff in verbal and written form.

Maintains professional composure under stress as in emergency situations.
