The University of Central Florida /HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program is seeking candidates for a Chief Resident Position for the upcoming academic year. HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital is a full-service level II trauma center and community hospital located in Sanford, FL. Sanford is a part of the Greater Orlando Area and is located under 30 miles northeast of downtown Orlando.The chief resident will be instrumental in helping start and build the program as this will be the inaugural residency class! Although it is a new residency program, the leadership team has close to 15 years of combined experience in GME. The Chief Resident will serve in a number of roles and provide a variety of functions while helping oversee 12 residents. Qualified Candidates: Must be able and willing to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, interns, medical students, administrative staff, residency faculty and administration, hospital staff, attending physicians, patients, families, and the public; and perform high-level decision-making Be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency program Have the ability to obtain Florida medical licensure The chief resident shall function under the supervision of the internal medicine residency program director The chief resident will develop administrative skills appropriate to the residency to act as a liaison to residents During the academic year, the chief resident will develop his/her personal leadership style, learn the complexities of conflict negotiation and resolution, and gain understanding of institutional administrative policies The chief resident oversees residents, interns and medical students in various ways: schedules, lectures, curriculum, research, quality improvement and simulation lab exercises Interested candidates must submit CVs, three letters of recommendation, and USMLE scores for review.
