A psych hospital is seeking a psychiatric nurse practitioner for locum tenens coverage.
Eastern Virginia is well-known for its historic sites such as Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown! While on assignment visit these sites or Virginia Beach to relax by the water!
At the facility, hospitalizations primarily involve acute adult patients in both male and female inpatient wards. In this role, the clinician will serve as a medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner, working with both acute and chronic inpatient populations. The responsibilities include completing admission medical assessments, including history and physical examinations, mental status examinations, and entering admission orders. Additionally, the clinician will order diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, monitor patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures, and provide appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed. The clinician will also consult with authorized representatives/legal guardians on the patient's medical status and collaborate with attending psychiatric practitioners, providing DSM-5 diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessments. The clinician will work closely with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
