Description
Provides infectious and communicable disease medical support, assistance and advisory responsibilities in conjunction with other health staff to actively maintain disease surveillance. Collaborates with governmental entities to develop educational programs relating to infectious disease control. Functions as a consultant for data analysis and data collection teams involved with Bioterrorism Planning/Preparedness. Participates in meetings with other health departments, law enforcement, first responders, etc. designed to aid in the bioterrorism planning and preparedness arena to ensure Dallas County’s level of preparedness is efficient and optimum. Prepares status reports regarding on bioterrorism preparedness/planning and communicable disease surveillance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills
MD/DO degree from an accredited school of Medicine. Three (3) years of work related experience as a licensed physician in a public or community health environment. Must possess license to practice medicine in the State of Texas as a MD. Knowledge of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Previous community health/communicable disease and/or infectious disease experience necessary. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license, with good driving record. Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Dallas County. Standard office environment. Ability to travel to various work site locations. Exposure to blood and various illnesses, diseases and other health problems. Ability to lift/transport clinic related supplies up to 25 lbs., unassisted.

Minimum Qualifications as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, grade LM (salary range $5,572.92 minimum to $6,952.95 max-in-hire): Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse and one (1) year experience in an advanced nursing role or in a specialty field or; Must have Graduated from a CAHEA or successor organization (ARC-PA) approved Physician Assistant program and possess one (1) year of related experience. Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse OR Physician Assistant in the State of Texas.
