Part-Time Optometrist – Veterans Disability Exams
•  Location: Jacksonville, NC
•  Pay: $850–$900 per day
•  Duration: 1 Year + Contract
•  Schedule: 3–4 days per week, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
•  Job Type: Part-time
•  Work Environment: Clinic/Private Practice

Position Overview
We are seeking a Licensed Optometrist to perform disability assessments for U.S. veterans in Jacksonville, NC. This role offers a unique opportunity to serve veterans by helping them access the benefits they’ve earned—without the responsibility of ongoing care, prescribing, or treatment.


Role Details
•  Conduct non-treatment optometric evaluations as part of the Veterans Affairs (VA) disability benefits process.
•  See approximately 6 veterans per 8-hour day.
•  Review each veteran's medical history, including relevant past medical documentation when available.
•  Use a web-based exam tool for documentation and submission.
•  Submit completed electronic reports within 24 hours of the exam.
•  Flexible scheduling to optimize provider efficiency and satisfaction.

Skills
Qualifications
•  Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program.
•  Current, unrestricted license to practice Optometry in North Carolina.
•  Previous experience with VA or compensation and pension (C&P) exams is a plus—but not required.
•  Strong attention to detail and professionalism in documentation.

Ideal Candidate
•  Comfortable working in an evaluation-only role—no treatment, prescribing, or ongoing care required.
•  Dedicated to supporting the veteran community with timely, high-quality assessments.
•  Able to efficiently manage exam flow and electronic documentation.
•  Prior experience in disability or compensation exams is helpful but not mandatory.
