What You’ll Do
- Conduct patient history and physical exams, make assessments, and develop treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (x-rays, labs, studies)
- Recognize emergent situations and initiate appropriate treatment
- Counsel patients on health issues, medications, and management of their conditions
- Assist in patient admissions, discharges, and coordinating ongoing care
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare providers and community resources
- Support trauma team as a surgical first or second assist (training/competency required)
- Participate in robotic-assisted surgeries as an OR bedside assistant (if qualified)
- Perform basic emergency procedures: wound closures, foreign body removal, fracture management, chest tube placement, and more
What You Need
Required:
- Active CA PA license and DEA registration
- Trauma or critical care experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to work independently with good clinical judgment
Preferred:
- Experience in Level II Trauma Centers or emergency settings
- Surgical assisting or robotic surgery experience
- Prior locum work
About the Assignment
This assignment involves providing critical trauma coverage in a busy Level II Trauma Center, supporting an on-call trauma surgeon with a team of dedicated providers. The role includes clinical assessments, diagnostic ordering, patient management, and assisting in surgeries (where qualified). Handling an average of 20-25 ICU patients daily, providers will play a vital role in patient care, including trauma resuscitations, procedures, and post-acute management. Support staff includes another Trauma NP/PA working weekdays, with collaboration encouraged across the team.
