At the Naval Branch Health Clinic Belle Chasse located on Naval Air Station/Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, we provide high quality healthcare to those who serve our nation and their families, with commitment and compassion, to ensure operational force readiness and a healthy community. Duties

In this position, you will perform meaningful professional work in the field of Family Practice. A typical day includes:

•Providing a full range of family practice services, e.g. examining, diagnosing and treating patients newborn to age 65;
•Documenting patient history using electronic medical records;
•Performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies, prescribing medications and performing patient education.
•Promoting preventative and health maintenance care including annual physicals and positive health care behaviors through education and counseling;
•Providing clinical practice oversight by reviewing medical care and clinically related processes and policies.

•Accredited MD or DO, or ECFMG or Fifth Pathway certification
•Active physician license awarded by any state

•Selectee is required to participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Skills
Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited school in the United States or Canada; OR possess a medical degree from a foreign medical school and have a permanent certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or fifth pathway certificate. Please make sure your resume reflects your ECFMG certificate number or fifth pathway certificate, including date awarded.

In addition, your resume must demonstrate at least 3 years of graduate training or equivalent experience and training in Family Medicine, as well as one year of experience performing duties such as, but not limited to, the following: examination, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of medical, surgical, gynecological, pediatric, and orthopedic care. Your resume must reflect you have a sufficient level of expertise in Family Medicine to perform the core privileges of this position at the GP-14 Level.

This position has two selective placement factors that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factors are: 1) possession of an active, valid, and unrestricted physician license to practice medicine awarded by any State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; AND 2) possession of a current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification. Failure to possess these factors WILL result in an ineligible rating.  Possession of the factor must be verifiable via your resume or support documents.
