In this position you will serve as an Emergency Medicine Physician practicing in a hospital-based Urgent Care Center at Naval Hospital Bremerton. This is a 12-bed, 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation caring for 22,000 patients annually. The patients span the entire lifecycle from neonate to geriatric; to include active duty service members, their dependents, retirees, and Veterans Health Administration beneficiaries. Thirty five percent of patients seen are pediatric cases. Care is focused on the acutely ill patient and their complex medical requirements which includes many clinical specialties, and therefore requires broad clinical competency. Rapid medical decision making, interim stabilization, and care coordination with surrounding facilities is often required for appropriate disposition.

Duties

•Provide direct and expert patient care requiring application of new techniques and/or complicated procedures and advanced skills in accordance with established principles of Family and Emergency Medicine.
•Clinical supervision of non-physician providers, registered nurses, and medical technicians/hospital corpsman for the overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in the clinic.
•Provide care to a high volume of low urgency patients as well as acute care services.
•Manage radiological medical emergencies; admission and transfers; arranging for transportation for transfers.

Skills
Education Requirements: Applicants must possess a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited school in the United States or Canada; OR possess a medical degree from a foreign medical school and have a permanent certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or fifth pathway certificate.

In addition, your resume must demonstrate you have at least 5 years of residency training or equivalent experience and training in Emergency or Family Medicine (i.e., 3 years Emergency Medicine residency and 2 year(s) fellowship and/or experience). Examples of this experience includes, but is not limited to, the following: examining, diagnosing, and developing and managing patient treatment plans; determining the need for consultation with other specialists; prescribing and dispensing medications; and evaluating the quality of care provided to patients and identifying opportunities to improve care.

You must have an active, valid, and unrestricted physician license to practice medicine awarded by any State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications. Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible rating.  Possession of the factor must be verifiable via your resume or support documents.
